CEMAC member states have launched a revision of their oil and mining codes to harmonize the tax rules applicable to extractive sector operators and to secure public revenue against the volatility of commodity prices.

These reforms affect in particular the regime for proportional royalties, the tax treatment of site decommissioning and rehabilitation costs at the end of operations, and the application of a value-added tax specific to oil and mining subcontracting services.

Operators present in the CEMAC zone should review their establishment agreements and production-sharing contracts in light of these changes to anticipate their impact on project profitability and to secure compliance with local tax administrations.
